Toupees
Toupees, simply put, are hair pieces typically worn by men to cover up areas of baldness. They are usually designed to cover up bald spots at the top and back of the head. However, television personalities have been known to wear ones that cover the entire head
The color is closely matched to the user's hair color and usually fades due to mistreatment or if it is poorly kept.
They’re usually made to fit the needs of the wearer; and can be made from either synthetic or natural human hair. These pieces are generally attached to the individual's head by tape, but there are non-adhesive types. Higher quality ones can be fastened to the head by using the individual's own hair.
The following are 3 different types of toupee tape:
- Whiteliner - Also called “clear tape”. It has moderate holding strength and is recommended for daily use. It is surgical medical grade quality.
- Redliner - Is the most widely used tape for permanent wearing. It generally last 3 to 4 days and is designed for those toupees made of a microfilament or bonding system.
- Bonding strip tape - Is the stickiest tape available and ideal for when you need the extra strength super bond capability.
